IU donates 850 million won in goods

Singer IU practiced good influence with a special donation to mark the 13th anniversary of her debut.

According to EDAM Entertainment on September 17, IU announced that on September 18th, on the day of her 13th debut, she delivered food, clothing, and shelter-oriented donations to each underprivileged and screening clinic along with the brands she is working with New Balance, Ban-Olympiza Shop, Blackyak, Evezari, and Jeju Samdasoo.

IU’s agency said, “IU wanted to donate the daily necessities needed to mark her debut anniversary,” adding, “As IU proposed it to each brand, she paid half the donation.”

The donation has prepared about 1,000 pairs of New Balance sneakers to support teenagers’ first step, as well as about 2,000 pizzas, black Yak Kids supplies and winter padded jackets for children and teenagers in shelters.

In addition, about 850 million won worth of goods, including 300 Evezari blanket sets and 2,000 Kyungdong Pharmaceutical’s first aid kit sets, were provided to 20 district health centers in Seoul, including 30,000 bottled water from Jeju Samdasoo.

Since her debut in 2008, IU has continued to donate steadily to the underprivileged, together with her fan club “UAENA” every special anniversary. In May, she donated 500 million won to mark her last birthday in her 20s.
