BLACKPINK joins global fan community platform “Weverse.”
According to their agency YG Entertainment on July 14th, BLACKPINK will open a Weverse community for their fans on August 2nd. It is expected that communication between BLINKs (fandom) all over the world, who always send passionate love, and the BLACKPINK members will increase.
In particular, attention is focusing on what type of contents and events are being prepared as BLACKPINK’s 5th debut anniversary on August 8th approaches. YG explained, “It is a part of the BLACKPINK’s ‘4+1’ project.”
This is the third YG artist to join Weverse following TREASURE and iKON. YG announced that it would strengthen its strategic partnership with HYBE (formerly BigHit Entertainment) and Weverse Company.
After captivating the public at the same time as their debut in August 2016, BLACKPINK has become a global star by making big hits with all the songs released, including “DDU-DU DDU-DU” and “Kill This Love.”
Their first full-length album “THE ALBUM,” released in October last year, ranked second on the U.S. Billboard 200 and the U.K. official charts, breaking the top ranking records of K-pop girl groups. In addition, the album has sold more than 1.3 million copies, becoming the first million seller by a K-pop girl group (based on the Hanteo/Gaon Chart).
